If not, then it has even less meaning. You can see Barret is wearing the ring on his MIDDLE finger on his LEFT hand.
Here's a couple of possibilities. Every character has a ring as a reminder of either Aeris or the Shinra/Sephiroth/Jenova/Meteor event. Or only Cloud, Tifa, and Barret have the rings as a reminder of Biggs, Jessie, and Wedge and the destroyed sector of Midgar.

Either way, there is still a possibility of symbolism in the fact that both Cloud and Tifa wear their rings on their ring fingers on their right hands.

then when leading Denzel to the water, she has it on her right

It's kinda odd don't you think ? I mean when Tifa gets a bit angry with Cloud, she points at a picture of them four: Denzel, Marlene, Tifa, Cloud, and unless my subtitles are all messed up (which could be a great possibility), i think she says something about "not beeing a real family"... And then again, in that ring sequence, she says something about: "too much of a Burden"... And note when she answers the phone: "Strife Delivery Service"...
