Grave of the Fireflies is great beyond words. One of the best anime movies ever made in my opinion, Takahata definately reaches the level of Miyazaki on this one. It's incredibly harrowing to watch, but essential all the same. Truly a highlight of anime filmmaking, and even filmmaking in general. Everyone should see this film.
I've yet to see it but I've heard nothing but how amazing it is. Perhaps that's why the DVD was always so steeply priced when I would go anime shopping (which is why I've yet to see it).
I like Kung-Fu.
Same here, I'd like to see it. A good example of quality anime that isn't just about the schoolgirls and giant robots.

...there is nothing wrong with school girls and giant robots.
I haven't been able to find this movie anywhere, but I'll watch it as soon as possible. But then I'm not really one for depressing endings...
And don't say Eva 'cause that was a happy ending...relatively.
The saddest anime I have EVER seen. ç__ç
