Default Half-life 2 on the Xbox

It's coming out soon. I may give it a whirl, since then I'll be able to see the good graphics without my PC exploding.

I've seen some shots of it, and the graphics are really, really lowered to run on the XBox. I think the graphics strip-down is going to affect the feeling of immersion in the world, but the game is still really amazing. It's the sort of game you just have to play in order to understand what gaming bliss is like, so even with the lowered graphics it should blow everyone away that hasn't played it yet.

I have seen the top of the mountain, and it has excellent physics.

    Will it be good? YES!
Will it be able to match the PC version? NOT EVEN CLOSE!

For starters the PC version can run in a higher resolution so that helps right off the bat. Then there are the very detailed textures which(while still looking good) will be dumbed down so the XBox can process them.

It really all depends on how they do it for the XBox. If the controls suck like they did for HL on PS2 then the game will just suck. Else it will be good. It is a fun game to play through but after having played the game as it was meant to be played...I could never do it on the XBox

I haven't played a console FPS with controls that didn't suck compared to PC games since Turok 2. Thankfully I've got HL2 for the PC, but if you just can't play it for PC, then definitely at least give it a go on the Xbox. If the controls suck too badly, then you're stuck until you get a better PC.

There is a difference between controls that blow(Half Life PS2) and Controls that are not up to PC part but good and easily controllable(Halo, Rainbow Six 3).

If the controls are like Halo smooth then it will be good.

It's not even worth getting for the X-box. Why? Because there will be a lack of modifications! What made HL live so long was it's outstanding mod community. Without that, it's nothing more than an awesome FPS that you could play through 3 or 4 times.

Also, why anyone would want to play an FPS on a console as opposed to a PC is beyond me.
