Just keep the topic on FF8, please, discuss sigs via Pm or IM, or I don't care where just not here.![]()
FF8 was my favorite, but I guess I can see why people don't like it. I loved the junctioning system, though, and story, the characters, everything. Different tastes. No big deal, though. We all experience horrible games at one point or another.
Sadly, that makes for discontent in many who aren't.Originally Posted by rubah
It's a common complaint that junctioning makes all the characters too similar. However, by carefully selecting spells, abilities and GFs, you can totally customise each character into a specific role - for example, giving the Treatment and Revive abilities to someone with a lot of white magic gives you a perfect White Mage. Combat-oriented abilities, along with junctioning that enhances strength and defence, creates a Knight or warrior. And so on...
If you're really bored, it can be kinda interesting to give characters abilties that are completely different to their default skills - for example, making Selphie the indestructible beserker who can slaughter millions of foes with her weapons, or turning Squall into a non-combative healer.
I don't really like it either. I'll admit, it had a lot to do with the junction system. I can't figure the damned thing out. Finding your parts to weapons and having to find the specific magazine that weapon was in was annoying too. Otherwise... I hate most of the characters. Irvine and Quistis are great, I don't mind Seifer, and Squall's okay, but everyone else was terrible. And the plot was mediocre. I couldn't really get into it. So yeah, I don't like this game, but its better than FFV and Crystal Chronicles at least.
FF8 is amazing, even though I didn't like the ending very much and was sort of disappointed.
I only liked the Laguna scene.
But I'm sorry you didn't like it.
To each their own!

Okay er, I do admit that at the end the twsist in the plot were getting to be annoying. But the game in the beginning now that, that was spectacular...the cutscenes, the graphics, everything. FUll of adventure...
NOTE TO SELF: When a final FANTASY is made its all about FANTASY! Was it the ideal thing about the future that you had a hard time to contemplate? Everything about this game was new, was it because you liked how FFVII's slots and whatnot worked? Was this just too hard for you to understand how to do?
I believe that you didn't like the game because you didn't understand how to play the game correctly.
Everyday I wish that I could be the one, for you...
final fantasy 8 is one of the most famous game squaresoft have made even today FF8 is still recognizable because the story, music, movie, battle screens is great.
Actually squall was the model in toyota's latest model in 1998 =P
Uhhh......I hear game critics laughing at Animaonline......
Why I liked the junctions system:
customizable characters,
direct control of stat power,
another use for magic
Why I didn't like the junction system:
Why customize your characters when you can give them ALL 100 Curaga, 100 Quake (or even Ultima) junctioned to Strength, etc, etc?
Drawing I found WAAAY too monotonous (Quistis drew 5 meltdowns! Squall drew 9 Meltdowns! Selphie drew 8 Meltdowns! Quistis drew 6 Meltdowns! Gayla attacks for 13 damage! Squall drew 8 Meltdowns! etc, etc, etc).
2 minute long summoning sequences (although this doesn't relate DIRECTLY to junctioning, it's a by-product, and I'll list it here cause I want to).
Don't get me wrong, I liked FF8. I just think there's more to dislike about junctioning than there is to like.
