Some people appear very sensitive to the casual use of phrases like " Goddamnit " and " Jesus Christ " ie. " taking the lord's name in vain.If you're an overzealous preacher like my art teacher that is.So,to the devout Christians among us, does this casual blasphemy offend you personally ?

Actually, I think the comandment applies more to using Gods name to justify something wrong, i.e. 9/11. (yes, I know it's a different religion, but the principle is the same.) Granted, I'm not christian, but I thought I'd put my 2 cents in.it's one of the 10 commandments. up there with murder.
I don't get the mentality. Crediting someone with the power to condemn something, or save/bless something, seems like a pretty solid form of affording respect to me.
Yes, I hate it when I hear people use God's name like that.
I can see how people could be offended by Jesus Christ, but God damnit doesnt really cut it for me. After all, God's name isn't god!

I know what you mean, I aggree with DarkLadyNyara and with the basic principle that just saying 'Jesus Christ' or using any other holy reference to signify anger, or a bad thing is very bad.
