Why did one of the most badass storms have to be named after me?...
Anyway, this storm is bigger than Andrew but slower.

LET THE HAMMER FALL
At least it'll be remembered... the last time a storm was named after me, it never made landfall. It fizzled in the Atlantic and died. I was rootin' for her too.....
Rita should be gone by Monday/Tuesday
LET THE HAMMER FALL
Dude my older sister lives in houstan and they waited it out and she said everyone evacuated for nothing. They got like 40 mph winds and that's like wyoming winds so she is laughing at all the people who left. But i'm glad she's alright. She said she had a friend in traffic for 9 hours and they only got 20 miles. Crazy though.
yeah, on Cnn, it looks like it was pretty weak. You can say they evacuated for nothing in hynsight, but that doesn't help anything. If people listen to that and stay it out, that is like asking for another Katrina like accident.
Bipper
It won't show up on Google earth.

I don't know how many people live in Florida in here , but I have lived here my whole life(S. Fla) and I have hurricane parties but now these hurricains are starting to scare me. I was in miami during Andrew but I cant belive what happened to LA. We were spared and they paid the price
Lifelong Central Florida Resident here!!! And I know exactly how you feel ....
Global Warming? No, it's probably not.
BBC Reports
Yeah, it was pretty boring here in the Houston area. We got 40 mph winds and a half an inch of rain. It was just like a windy thunderstorm in Colorado. Saturday morning we went for a walk because it was already like a weak thunderstorm. By Saturday afternoon we had already gone back to our apartment to "de-hurricanefy" it and did yard work cleaning up all of the pine needles everywhere and by dinner time were barbequeing.
It was pretty sad watching the news Saturday morning because they didn't have anything to report so they were trying to make news. One reporter was showing the "devastation and destruction" of hurricane Rita by showing flower pots that had been blown off of a ledge and another raced up to a guy about to take a chainsaw to a downed tree. When the reporter asked him why he was cutting the tree, he told her he needed to clear the driveway so he could back out. Then she asked him what he was feeling, expecting an answer of relief after the "horror" of the storm, but he just replied that he was thinking that he wanted to cut this tree up so that he could go in and have a beer.
So yeah, for the Houston area it was pretty paltry. But for Lake Charles....![]()
