Yeah, it was pretty boring here in the Houston area. We got 40 mph winds and a half an inch of rain. It was just like a windy thunderstorm in Colorado. Saturday morning we went for a walk because it was already like a weak thunderstorm. By Saturday afternoon we had already gone back to our apartment to "de-hurricanefy" it and did yard work cleaning up all of the pine needles everywhere and by dinner time were barbequeing.

It was pretty sad watching the news Saturday morning because they didn't have anything to report so they were trying to make news. One reporter was showing the "devastation and destruction" of hurricane Rita by showing flower pots that had been blown off of a ledge and another raced up to a guy about to take a chainsaw to a downed tree. When the reporter asked him why he was cutting the tree, he told her he needed to clear the driveway so he could back out. Then she asked him what he was feeling, expecting an answer of relief after the "horror" of the storm, but he just replied that he was thinking that he wanted to cut this tree up so that he could go in and have a beer.

So yeah, for the Houston area it was pretty paltry. But for Lake Charles....
