Hmmm... i'm going to hide behind the sun! I'll make a rocket, launch when the earth is exactly on the opposite side of the sun, relative to the coming cloud, and sit there for a year drifting until the earth comes back around.

Of course, if the cloud is coming from "above" or "below", relative the earth's rotation, then I'm boned.
