I agree- having countries too divided simply causes conflict, but domination by a single power is no better. The best way is, as you said, a democractic union. I'd like to see different countries unite as much as possible, but you have to take things slowly and carefully. Different culltures and ways of thinking prevent there being just one, large country, at least at the moment.
This American superpower thing doesn't help, though- it forces a hypocitical and flawed ideoligy on others, one which no-one wants.

You weren't that isolationist- you just stayed out of European affairs. You still intefered with the politics of Cuba, Nicuragua, Mexico, hell, even Japan! Anyway, isolationism never works.
