Keep trying, he'll eventually get frustrated, kick the cabinet, and the item will fall (I believe it's a Megalixer, I cant remember offhand).

So that's how you get that damn mega-elixer! I've played through FF7 about twenty times, and I'd never figured it out. *nods* Thanks, you just made an important decision that much easier for me.
