That's an entirely different situation. Nobody thought that was a good idea at the time, considering Hicks was competing with himself.

I've got a bundle of problems with Rangers' management, in that John Hart is an incompetent idiot, Buck Showalter doesn't understand what it means to give young, talented players a chance over his gritty veterans, and Tom Hicks let Chan Ho Park and Alex Rodriguez scare him to death. However, the Rangers are a fun team to watch, and the pitching staff they have at this very instant is not that atrocious.
