I think aside from the slightly mediocre beginning, Advent Children delivered some of the most entertaining action scenes I have ever seen (the church, the summon, all the bike scenes, the final battle). It was really marvilous. What I found amazing was that (SPOILER)Cloud had so many swords! Jeez, how can he lug around all those huge swords in his bike and still have it go 1000 mph?.
Square actually redeemed themselves for TSW and FFX-2 with this movie, the music was really great and I felt nostalgic hearing the old music from the game. Some might say the storyline was lacking, but I think they're really trying too hard to critique it, it's a completely CGI movie serving as a sequel to a video game that came out so long ago, they should cut Square-Enix some slack on that. I don't think anyone can argue who's seen or will see the movie that the action in this movie wins the first place ribbon.
Another great thing was the limit breaks, it was amazing how the battle went during the movie. They actually made the limit breaks and all that crap fit in well, at least as well as one could do that. I enjoyed the voice actors too, minus Sephiroth, I didn't really like his voice actor that much.
The only thing I did not understand about the movie was the (SPOILER)grey wolf. Was that (SPOILER)Seto? Or just symbolism?
Great movie overall, I think if someone unfamilar with FF were to see it, they wouldn't get the plot that well but they would love the action (and boy is there a ton of action, but it is based on an RPG, so action is a huge element, like oh crap a huge monster, jump, slash, etc). Also very nice, Squaresoft thanks the fans at the end of the credits.

Pretty good review. But the movie was not as great as I was hoping for. But that was expected. Also I thought the battle scenes moved way to fast at times, hard to keep trach of what the hell was going on.

That was lovely and I think the lack of storyline was Square trying to be open to people who hadnt played the game, A storyline without adding onto the original story wouldnt have been right and good movies generally dont have deep plots.
