Ram?

I just got this old timey computor for my little brother at goodwill. Yes Im cruel. But I want to upgrade the ram so it doesnt suck too much. So my friend gave me a stick of 256MB ram. But when I popped the top on the casing the ram that It had in there was all small. I was all WTF?
So is there a way to even upgrade the thing? I dont think its that bad of a computer. It has Windows 95 on it.

EDIT: I found out home much ram is in it. 12.0MB. No wonder its small...

If it only had 12mb of RAM, then it probably used SIMMs. Those are like...circa 1995, and you were trying to either put in DDR or SDRAM, which are DIMMs. If it uses SIMMs, you'll probably have trouble tracking down RAM these days.

It's not worth trying to buy SIMMs anymore, even if you can find them as they are generally far too expensive.
