Thread: Mario 64 in 21 minutes.

Default Mario 64 in 21 minutes.

My most impressive record is Super Mario World in 14 minutes, but theres an 11 minute one floating around on the internet.. its really nice to compare things we do differently and the same.. what really impressed me is how he handled the water level, which really docked a lot of my time, as well as bowsers catle at the end.

But um, what do you think about the use of glitches used in gaming to lessen the amount of time spent, i.e. glitching through doors & up stairs to face bowser?

The Speed Demos Archive only accepts speed runs after they've been verified as legit.

Some speed runs are the result of extensive use of save states and whatnot. Others by utilising some glitch in the game (I've got a 1 minute something run of Raveholm. I thought I was in for some serious gameply. Turns out they were just skyboarding). Very few are just people playing the game from start to finish.

Actually, nearly all of the runs on the SDA are just that.

I'll check this out later when I have time. I saw a Super Mario Bros. 3 speed run one time and it was pretty cool.

I've been trying to get under 2 hours on MGS3 with 0 saves, 0 continues, 0 kills and 0 alerts. I got 2:08 today. If it wasn't for the credits I'd have managed it.

EDIT: Well...the people on that site owned me. Less time and on a harder difficulty. (I've been trying it on both Normal and Hard, certainly not European Extreme though)

As for glitches and stuff...I wouldn't use them for trying a speed run because that could waste time if I mess them up, but I do like to try out glitches in gameplay if I know of any, sure.
