    Ghost in the Shell

I don't see many Anime's for sale in my state and I have never bought one before, I also have yet to watch one.

I saw a copy of 'Ghost in the Shell' for sale a couple of months ago and I've been toying with the idea of buying. But I don't know if it's worth buying it. What it like? Do you recommend it? Is there any other Anime you recommend I watch?

    Thanks

I wouldn’t bother with Ghost in the Shell, it’s really slow moving and doesn’t really go anywhere. If you can find it, I would strongly recommend Akira, and if you can put up with the ‘Astroboy’ style animation, Metropolis is very good as well. I would go with them, but then that’s just me…

Ghost In The Shell is great but maybe a bit overrated.
But buying Animes in general is stupid when there so easy to download....

Get Ghost in the Shell, Akira and Fist of the North Star (the film). They're my personal favourites.

    Akira sucks.

Ghost in the Shell is cool with it plot and deeper underlying thoughts of machines and souls.

    Metropolis is kind of...meh.

The main problem with ALL of these movies is that they try to accomplish 3 hours of story in 1.5 hours and it seems crammed, under explained, rushed and confusing overall.

Ghost in the Shell is excellent and one of my personal favorites. There's a lot going on underneath the surface, and it's really a cool film. The only problem might be if excessive naked breasts is something you dislike.

Not to mention the vagina shots…

    I mean seriously; WEAR PANTS!

I liked the movie.. Though at times, like most "deep" movies, it seems a little full of itself.

But yah.. Buy it. It's got boobies and 'splosions and psychobabble that will go over your head.

Just don't buy the sequel. No boobies and it rehashes all the psychobabble from the first movie.

I never liked Ghost in the Shell or Akira very much. Princess Mononoke is really good.

Basically in this thread your going to get a lot of conflicting information on anime cause everyone likes different kinds of it Most people can probably find some anime they like.

Only the movies. Series have enough time to complete everything most of the time. The movies...no...unless they are a sequel thing to a series.
