Should I get a PS2 for FFVII-FFIX?

Go for it, PS2s are getting really cheap. That slim one is especially cheap, just don't get it if you ever want to play FFXI.

I pity u.....How can u be a fan of FF if u havent played Final Fantasy 7!!!
Anyway with the PS2 u'll get some enhanced graphics and faster loading time but u might as well wait for the PS3 so u can get FF12 and the rest of the collection as it would alos bolt up ff7 graphics and gameplay up to PS2ish standard

id get the PS three because some later FFs will be on PS3 but if it cant play PS1 games you better get a PS1.

I'm pretty sure Sony said that PS3 would be backwards compatible with both PS1 and PS2

Wow, really shocking how your a big ass fan a ff but yet you haven't played VII. Oh well, hurry up and play VII! You should consider PS3, I mean it makes sense. That way you can be up to date with the ff games that will rise on that system. Or if you're impatient like me, go pick up ps2.

It depends on the money you have and how long you want to wait. If you have not much money and don't want to wait, buy a PS2. If you have a lot of money, and can wait until net year, a PS3 will let you play even future Final Fantasy games.
If you have a BIG lot of money, you can get a PS2 now and a PS3 when it comes out.
