As a director, I feel he's fairly decent. As for his documentaries, I'm sure there's many that would call him a "propagandaist" but then so are all people who ask questions in times of extreme patriotism. Whether you agree with his films or not, you have to respect the fact that he's taking risks by asking questions no one wants to ask.

Currently, I'm reading this book called Lies My Teacher Told Me. It actually considers many things in history that we are not taught in school for the sake of glorifying individuals in history. Perhaps, not knowing the full truth about our history keeps us from learning from our mistakes. Instead we repeat these mistakes over and over. Perhaps, if we started questioning our government more, we could see a real change in our future rather than the repetition of historical events.
