Default No end to this in Northern Ireland...I honestly despare

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another Loyalist ex-brigadier was killed today. Jim Gray or 'Doris Day' as he was nicknamed was killed in the in-feuding between these scumbags.

On Sunday, there was a Catholic Church service for the dead called Cemetary Sunday. The Loyalists, both men & women & their kids tried to attack it. They then said they are going to dig up every catholic grave and 'urinate' on the bodies. Today they tried, but failed, however did succeeed in smashing headstones with sledgehammers. This particular Cemetary is where my father is buried.

If anyone ever wonders how a group like the IRA get support & volunteers they need look no further than what we have to go through day in day out. Even after the clear & present end to violence by the IRA, instead of following, they get worse.

They are lost, twisted, scared & bitter people. Years back the Protestants got EVERYTHING their way, first choice for jobs, finance, civil rights. Now it has changed it has angered them to a point where their are turning into warped hateful murderers.

I've lived here all my life, I don't know how long I can put up with this and they are words I never thought I'd hear myself say. With no IRA there is no protection. Despite our flaws, and no, I am not ignorant to them, they were there, now every Catholic is fair game. It does say a lot about the Loyalist mentality that even after we destroy every gun, their still only have the balls to attack us when we are dead or sleeping.

What a lost cause this country is.

Jesus Christ. Just what the hell does it take to get just a little peace in this world? No matter where you look these days, there's violence somewhere and I'm getting really smurfing sick of it!

Loyalists and unionists are just as bad as each other. Neither side is in the right. It will take time, and it might not happen in our lifetimes, but I am fairly confident that there will one day be peace in Northern Ireland. Yes, it may not look like that now, but no conflict can last forever. Eventually people will realise what idiots they have been.

I don't know much about it. All I know is that the protestants hate the Catholics and vice-versa. It's pretty ridiculous when you think about it.

Actually there is a deeper issue than the religious one, but that is a very significant factor. Nevertheless, the only people around here who know lots about it (As far as I've seen) do so because they care, which means they have a side usually. You won't get an objective answer from one side as far as the other are concerned. For example, I could launch into a tirade about "It does say a lot about the Loyalist mentality that even after we destroy every gun, their still only have the balls to attack us when we are dead or sleeping." or "It does say a lot about the Loyalist mentality that even after we destroy every gun, their still only have the balls to attack us when we are dead or sleeping." but it'd be pointless because we'll just get into a slanging match and neither side will consider the other's points, valid or not.

Short version: Both sides are childish and petulent and take decades to make concessions. Both sides have made major mistakes, and have blood on their hands. Neither side wants peace, they both want their way, and the real problem is both sides are completely convinced of their own rightness.
