    Hi,

My name is John. I listen to Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance and just about every other poppy, studio molested, untalented punk band signed by Fueled By Ramen. I would appreciate cliquey cynical sarcasm and false generalizations.

    Thanks.

I don't even know what I think anymore. I listen to what I like. If it happens to be "pop" or "mainstream", or whatever the hell you want to call it...then so be it. Whatever pleases my ears.

Although Jessica Simpson, Good Charlotte, Britney Spears, P. Diddy, none of those appeal to me.

Meh, I guess. MEH MEH MEH

If you play Final Fantasy, you buy into mainstream culture/pop-culture. Serious.

I pretty much agree with kikimm. I listen to whatever I like, and I like a LOT of different things.

    Signature by rubah. I think.

It all depends really. Most suck, some don't. Just gotta find what you like and stick with it.

I don't ever know what's going on in modern popular culture.

As soon as you start to find new music that becomes popular 'bad' you are offically old.

Not really- I understand what you mean, but there's a difference between buying and buying into- if you buy FF, you can still think for yourself, and make up your own mind about stuff. While, if you buy into pop-culture, you surrender your mind to the Record Companies, the clothes companies, and all those other little envoys of Stan. (Yes, evil Stan, lord of the nega-verse!)
Of course, any one who actually does buy into pop-culture barely has a mind anyway, so no great loss.

    Err...
FF doesn't really represent mainstream culture. In fact, the only culture it has any connection to is manga-anime type people, which is hardly mainstream. At least outside of Japan.

Okay, I'm good then. Damn pop culture and their manufactured soulless crap. [/hypocrite]

Yeah well, I don't buy the FF being mainstream thing. In the world of
RPGs, it's definitely mainstream. But in the world of videogames, RPGs
aren't even the biggest category, and in the world of all entertainment,
video games are just a little piece of all the media out there.

It's like saying that One Winged Angel is mainstream. Granted among
people who are into Nobuo's music it's probably his most popular song,
but look at the percentage of people who are into his music with those
who aren't. You'll be lucky to find 1 person in 100 who's a big fan.

That's not what I was refering to. What I meant was 'why does liking pop culture automatically make you a mindless moron?'
