Default So is Legaia and Legaia 2 tied together?

I recently purchased Legend of Legaia and I'm curious to know if it ties together with Legaia 2

    Vaan - "Hey, you!"
Penelo - "Yeah, you! The one reading this sig at this very moment!"
Vaan - "Interested in playing FFXII International Zodiac Job system?"
Ashe - "But you have no knowledge of the Japanese language?"
    Fran - "....We could help...."
Balthier - "That's right, Fran! Just click on Crossblades' thread on the very bottom of this signature and it will show you all license grid translations, magicks and tecks locations, and other changes that were made!"
Basch - "Don't forget though. Swap Magic is needed to play this game if you don't own a japanese PS2."
Vaan - "Also remember that if you played the original, you'll have an easier time playing the international version. We hope you enjoy the International Zodiac Job System experience. See ya then!"

As far as I can tell, it doesnt. Seems to be a completly different world... so the Legend of Legaia series would be rather like the Final Fantasy series in that respect.

On a side note I noticed Yasunorit Mitsuda has done work with the music for legaia 2. Neat, I need to try to get into thatr game.

The only connection between the two is the battle system. That's about it. I really like the second one the most. Kazan is kind of a kooky character.

I dont really know, I own and beat the second, wasnt that good, battle system got boring after a while. But I had nothing else to play at the time......

I own 'em both, and while I've only played through maybe ten hours of Legaia 2, I'm pretty sure it holds no ties with Legend of Legaia.
