I use to follow Satanism quite a lot, and was well known in British Satanic circles.
Essentially, Satan is a metaphor for yourself, for if you take the definition of God as "the most important being in your life" then you would have to say that you are your own God, since there is no one more important in life than yourself.
It encourages moderate indulgence instead of abstinance, exploring sexuality and the delights of life and so on. "Responsibility to the responsible" is also a very important maxim in Satanism.
Satanism has "Sins". The no.1 sin being "stupidity". Satanists hate stupid people.
It worked for me when I was younger (around 17-20 years old), but now I'm a wee bit older, I see the world differently. Satanist almost encourages a single human to live on a self-sustaining island, if you like, where I realised that you can't go through life without interacting with people. You can't help it. Humans are social creatures. So if you're gunna interact with people, might as well do it in a way that makes people feel better.
That's the train of thought that lead me to Buddhism which is what I study now.
Anymore questions on Satanism, feel free to ask.
