After I watched the movie, I was kind of confused why Kadaj's gang kidnapped Marlene along with the orphans. What was the point of that?

i think he kidnaped all the kids becuase they all had(SPOILER)geostima and that they served somekindof purpose for the reunion

being causious with the spoilage

It was to lure Cloud into fighting them, because (SPOILER)They thought cloud had the remainder of Jenova's cells!
