That's a very important USENET discussion that was saved and later archived in Google Groups. It's basically a back-and-forth between Andrew Tanenbaum and Linus Torvalds (Linux creator) about how open source software, in particular an open source Unix-like OS is superior to commercial software, in this case a Unix-like OS Minix, which oddly enough later became open source. Minix inspired Linux. All the super Linux geeks probably know about this.
Linus Torvalds developed Linux out of semi-dislike of Minix.
Linux makes me sad in the pants.
