Thread: Laptop CD drive problem

    Default Laptop CD drive problem

Ok, so my CD drive doesnt work.

The orange light on it is constantly on.
The button to pop it out doesn't work.
When I click on my computer, there is no icon for the CD drive.
When I check on the hardware through 'contronl panel > add hardware', it tells me that the device is working properly, when it clearly isn't!

Any help would be most welcome.

Have you tried using a paperclip to eject the CD tray to see if the tray isn't in all the way or the CD is jammed?

Since it's a laptop, I guess the whole drive is removable? Try taking it out and putting it back in making sure it's in properly.
