Thread: Elvaan Job Recommendations...

    Default Should I Change Jobs...

...my current Job is RDM. after reading some FAQs and also gathering the facts about RDM, well, i find that Elvaans don't make the best out of RDM or mages. of course, i'm entitled to my own opinion, and i really like RDM (don't forget the color). my level is not that high on RDM anyway, so i won't mind picking a new Job to raise. what is good for an Elvaan?

i think if you really like RDM you should stay as that. i have a friend who has taken BLM to 75 and he is a galka. Basically you should be a job that you like, and that doesn't necessarily have to be one that your race is good at

I agree with what Haunted posted. If you enjoy RDM, continue playing it. Elvaans might not be ideal for playing mage classes, but there's always food and good equipment to make up for any lack in natural ability.

Anyway, I do hear that Elvaans make for exceptional Monks, so if you wanna give that job a try, go for it. But I really think it's best not to be overly concerned with how compatible your job and your race are and just go with whatever job you have fun playing.

As the others have said, defintely play whatever class you're having fun with. The one thing that has always bugged me is when people complain that you can't play a certain race/class combination because they won't have the best stats and are therefore pointless to play. I purposely pick a class/race combination that you don't see as often (Mithra WHM) for the simple fact that I hate having the same character as everyone else(Taru WHM).

I picked Taru cuz male mithra aint there so if i cant be fursona-ish person ima go cute ! :3 Always WHM always will.

Elvaan do not make the best RDM because of lower INT and lower MP, but is that really a problem? No it isnt, the thing is, there is plenty of INT and HP => MP gear out there, scout out some and get it. You do have an advantage though, you have higher MND, which makes White Magic enfeebles much more easy.

That and at the end, if two races have optimal gear, the difference should not be that huge stat-wise outside of HP and MP. So pick the race you want, because you can switch jobs as much as you like, but you cant switch race.

The Elvaan MP pool isn't as horrid as that of a Galka, so really, really expensive equips (like a pair of astral rings) aren't necessary. I find that most people who take a Galka mage up already have a high level job so they can afford all the MP+ gear they need. I've seen Elvaan RDMs do just fine anyway. Just don't melee. Just because you have higher STR doesn't mean that you should melee in a party.

Like everyone has said, play something you want to play. You'll have more fun that way, and isn't that the point of playing a game?
