According to research done if people are woken within a few minutes of their rapid eye movement ceasing they will be very likely to remember the dream they just had . But if they are woken after more than about ten minutes they will have probably forgotten it. But you can easily get round this. If you want to remember your dreams next time you remember one write it down. Then the next time before you go to sleep put a pen and paper by your bed and if you wake from a dream if its in the middle of the night just quickly jot down things that were in the dream just things that will make you remember it in the morning you won't have to write the whole thing .Or if its when your waking up in the morning anyway you may as well write the whole thing down. You will become accustomed to this after a while and will automatically wake after each dream and be able to remember them. And after a while longer you will be able to not have to even wake after each dream you could have several in a row and wake some time later and be able to remember all of them then write them down. I don't just write my dreams down for memory purposes tho i always analyse them dreams are very important they can tell you your future. And interestingly, (to me anyway!) its proven that the mind cannot do without dreams. Volounteers have allowed themselves to be woken up everytime they start to dream but they were not woken up during dreamless sleep so were not being deprived of sleep just dreams. Everytime they are woken when they start to dream the next time they fall to sleep it takes less time for them to start to dream. Until eventually they start to dream as soon as they fall to sleep. And after being deprived of their dreams during the night they start to hallucinate during the day. If they are still denied their dreams they become increasingly disorientated and may eventually suffer severe mental disturbance so i think its safe to say they are very important and are there for a purpose. Another thing ive noticed is that since ive conditioned myself to remember my dreams I really no longer need an alarm clock since i started doing this whenever i decide what time i need to wake up i wake up at that time and even if i do set an alarm i always wake up a minute before its due to go off! And since so far this year ive remembered and written down 571 dreams its safe to say my methods are tried tested and proven
we do that cus we wake up to fast if we wake up slowly we have better chans of remembering them
