Thread: Should I worry ?

    Default Should I worry ?

Saddam Hussein's trial has begun, and im happy for that, he deserves the worst in My Opinion. But as his trial has begun, Im sure alot of his followers will be angry. But Im not sure if this is likely that another terrorist attack is near. If they were going to do one, wont they do it now.
What im worried about is that im heading to New York this Friday. And I dont know if I should, maybe travel on the subway, or go on a bus. I think Plane security is so high that its impossible for them to strike using that. But Subways and Buses are so easy to attack.
Anywayz, what should I be thinking......

You really cant imagine how big NY is. Its unbelievable. The chances that you'll be on a plane or a particular bus that will be involved in a terrorist attack is so small. You're alot more likely to die crossing the street.

If you stay at home and wrap yourself in aluminium foil, you might stay around for a little while longer, but sooner or later, they'll get you.

Not really. Saddam's followers aren't the terrorist sort, really. They're the aristocratic loser type. Much like our own leaders (and that sweeping generalization applies almost everywhere). And the true terrorists, the ones with what it takes to die for a cause, they have a healthy contempt for Hussein & co.

I always thought Terrorism was Saddam related. When America went after him, they took Britain with them. Then london was attacked. London was attacked for helping America capture Saddam. So it was related....

9-11 was not Saddam-related. Bin Laden hates the guy more than we do. The attacks aren't about Saddam, they're about the fact that the Americn troops are seen as occupiers. The Iraqi insurgents, no matter who they support, can't actually effectivly attack America. So, no, don't worry.

There is nothing to worry about. Terrorism is so infrequent a problem that to actually worry about it is asanine. Thats like being hesitant to go outside because you are afraid of getting hit by lightning. Any fear of terrorism is all hype with no merit.

I don't know WHO told you what, but no one with any political voice ever seriously supported the theory that Saddam was directly involved in any major terrorist activities. Besides the standard "don't ask, don't tell" policy of letting terrorists hide within Iraq's borders. No, Saddam was much too busy blasting the hell out of his own people to bother with anyone else.

Besides, it shouldn't have been a matter of "taking" anyone with us. Saddam was already openly and blatently violating the ceasefire agreements that saved his hairy little ass last time. Reason enough to resume our old actions. Last time we let countries slide on something like that, it started WW2. Prudence should demand we never give ANY country the illusion that they might be able to get away with the stuff we let Germany slide on.

Ya I wouldn't worry about it, like everyone else already said, but if there's going to be an attack because of the Saddam stuff, it more then likely won't happen in America, but in Iraq, where the majority of his supporters are at, and where Saddam is, or well presumed I suppose to correctly say.

So ya, don't worry about it and have a good trip to New York.

kee hee. there is no problem.

the baath party don't do terrorism. neither does the former iraqi army. they hardly exist anymore and right now if they do are just part of the urban geurrila war in iraq. they have no interest in terrorism.

neither do the fundamental/extremist muslim terrorist. they have no reason to be angry over this. they hated sadamme. called a jihad on him. he was a secular dictator on holy land. he fought against the pinnacle of the muslim world (iran). they would never fight for him.

they aren't annoyed at this at all. they are as happy as anyone. and it has given them the oppurtunity to make iraq an islamic state. they couldn't be happier.

it is worrying how well propaganda works though. "I always thought Terrorism was Saddam related. When America went after him, they took Britain with them. Then london was attacked. London was attacked for helping America capture Saddam. So it was related...."

I would hate to be Saddam's defense lawyer, personally. (Who, by the way, I heard was killed. Was that true, or just a rumor? I've been too busy to watch the news and find out) I mean, how do you win a case like that? Its nearly impossible, I would think. And you'd have a terrible reputation for the rest of your life for defending Saddam. That would be a terrible situation.
