So... what is the point of this thread? There's about as much debate in here as a thread about whether or not the sky is blue. I seriously doubt someone is going to come along and state that rape is a good thing.

Here Here! This thread had little point to begin with (yes I think we can agree rape is bad) and has mutated into a battle over gun laws and cruel and unusual punishments. Anyhow rape is reported far more often today then yesteryear, so instances were by no means lower then, they did not come to light.
