this was how the ending went
1)Sephiroth was stupidly waiting for Cloud to use Omnislash which Cloud did and then killed Sephiroth who was somewhat stupidly waiting for Cloud.
2)Kaboom . Tifa almost fell down and Cloud grabbed her which Barret saw and felt very jealous =X
3)The North Crater starts to go down , and Cid says "don't fail me lady luck!" suddenly Highwind crashes in with the sexy lady picturee lying down....
4)Everyone woohoo! den get on to the Highwind then they see Meteor falling to Midgar
den everyone boo!
5)Aerith who is dead casted holy but it was of no use.
6)Lifestream came out and blocked the meteor ... but i forgot wat happened , i think meteor fly somewhere or it went boom
7)stupid credits without the film like FFVIII
8) 500 years later...Nanaki had 2 baby whom i dunno he **** with
Yeah, wasn't Nanaki the 'last of his kind', How'd he have kid's? And the link Unknowns gave, I didn't read it all but it seems to be a matter of interpretation. As they said at the start of the thread

1 - Cloud defeats Sephiroth in his mind so that he cannot control him anymore.
2 - The team gets out of the North Crater.
3 - Meteor is about to collide with the world.
4 - Holy stops Meteor, but is not strong enough.
5 - Lifestream helps Holy and destroys Meteor.
6 - Aeris's image is shown as if to say that she directed Lifestream.
7 - Red XIII and his offspring are shown as if to say that the planet has still not died after many years, and is infact recuperating.
EDIT: Before dying, Bugenhagen tells Nanaki that he would probably find his mate out there somewhere. He just had to look. It was probably thought that he was the last of his kind, but there was probably a female of his kind somewhere in the world which he later on finds.

Watch the FMV, while Cloud is hanging, he goes into his mind and fights Sephiroth. Sephiroth is complete in his mind. During the other fights against Bizarro Sephiroth(The one after Jenova Synthesis) and Safer Sephiroth(The one after Bizarro that looks like an angel), the are incomplete. These Sephiroths do not have legs. They only have from the torso up, just like the real Sephiroth the way he was seen crystalized in the Windwirl Maze before the WEAPONs come out. But in his mind Sephiroth is complete, showing that this is not a real fight but only a fight in Cloud's mind. After you beat Sephiroth, you notice that Cloud is still hanging and hasn't fallen. This proves that he never went anywhere, and it was just a battle over dominion in Cloud's mind.
