On my crotch, just like everything else.
Depending on which one I wear, it's either left breast pocket, or the obvious lanyard around neck. If it's an I.D badge, front right belt loop.
Mine's on the front right of my uniform top, front left of my body armor, front of my Kevlar (helmet), and back of my boonie cap. As for normal jobs, I've never had one where I needed to wear a nametag.

Normally I wear it around my neck on a lanyard, but sometimes I string the lanyard through a belt loop and be allhot.

Why would it matter what hand you were?
Due to various writings of Terry Pratchett, I am led to believe that the heart has some symbolism in this, and I dont' think left-handed people have their heart on the right side:O
