and i'll say it agen, cos none r rite so far guys, sorry guys.

to save u having to scroll back n forth, here's the riddle agen:

thoughts in your mind send you off course
maybe you're hopeful, maybe you don't care
but thoughts send you to never ending violence
only to be saved by those deeming themselves helpful

we know it's an event

the hint ive given is:
it is not part of the storyline and u can walk straight passed it without doing it

i'll give you another too:
barret is a key part of the story at the time when the event can be carried out

incorrect guesses so far:
cloud drenched in the lifestream
vincent's awakening
hojo
wutai events
cloud regaining his memory
event in shinra mansion, with zack

i think that's it so far. i like this

Could it be trying to walk in the desert in corel?

thoughts in your mind send you off course <--- you think you can try and get as far as you can maybe even out of the prison.
maybe you're hopeful, maybe you don't care <---- you're hoping you get to the end of the desert or you're probably just bored out of your mind.
but thoughts send you to never ending violence <---- if I'm correct you still have to fight in that area and because you can go quite far without it doing anything, you'd probably have to fight all the time. Not to mention corel itself has unlimited amounts of battles.
only to be saved by those deeming themselves helpful <--- if you get so far, you get taken back to the prison by a small carriage or buggie or something, and they say becareful not to do that again or something I can't remember fully.

It seems that each verse describes the person whose name is written vertically in the first letters of each line, or describes a situation where they are prominent, ie.

Barret
Cloud
Aeris
Tifa
Red
Cid

Could I have comprehensive feedback on that, Lenny-baby?

holy - Cadoodle it's THINGFISH! ;P *grins* to some extent yes, but the majority of each line links to both the character and the answer.

So, could I suggest that it is the second meanings that we need to divulge and can think of the superficial relations of the lines to the characters in their verses as pretty much red-herrings?

You know something? I reckon the use of the ampersand (&) in the first verse represents Barret's own use of symbols (e.g. $%^&* etc) in his speech bubbles when he is expressing certain emotions. Furthermore, I think his use of symbols is connected to the answer in some way.

That thought just came to me out of the blue.

Here's all the times Barret uses symbols to swear :

Barret: So PLAY! …messin' round %&*$#&! Don't forget we're after Sephiroth!

Barret: That #*$&#&' kid!!! Grrrrrgh!! Arrrrrgh! Uhhhhhhhhhhhh!! She was after our materia from the start!! She went north! When I get my hand on her, I'll get our materia back! C'mon! We're goin' after her!

Barret: Damn dirty-playin' @*#&$@*#&@@#!"
