This reminds me of Dyne's gun arm. Although he's clearly animate, his gun arm is mechanical. Presumably it has a name, like Barrets' many gun arms. An important part of the plot is when (SPOILER)Dyne goes on a rampage in Gold Saucer, and everyone suspects Barret.
