Maybe with the Forgotten - The Junon hall has the forgotten souls of the people who were in the Sector 7 hall

Maybe with the forgetful - This might be something to do Cloud and his Memories?

After that last guess and hint, it feels like stealing, but I didn't even come up with the answer--it was my sister, and she came up with it without hearing any of the guesses or the last hint. She only heard the riddle and the fact that it was a non-plotline-essential materia (she basically got the answer from line 4).

Yeah, it wouldn't be stealing if she wrote one, since she used only the riddle and the information I mentioned...but she doesn't want to write one. Technically I'd just be taking the floor my sister said I could have. I'll post mine, with the acknowledgement that Enjolras came really, really close.

The ultimate leaves a sword and a gap --> ultima weapon drops ultima weapon after battle and blows up hlaf of cosmo, giving u access to ancient forest
Sapphire makes a sacrifice for the mission --> is killed by shinra during the attack on junon
Diamond resorts to power, but falls --> tries using projectiles to stop the "illness of the planet" but is killed
Emerald and ruby are the last to go --> emerald and ruby weapon are killed by cloud and co, but don't appear until all other weapons hav been defeated

So what ever happened to topaz? --> is this actually part of the riddle?

Yes, the question is part of the riddle. The answer to the riddle is, quite simply, what happened to topaz--so you have to identify topaz in order to find the answer. No hints for a while though.

It must be something that shares some sort of attribute with the Weapons, since the other lines mention the five canonical Weapons.

So help me, if the answer involves the Cheese Weapon or Chocobo Weapon....

No, the answer is not "topaz lived". Nor is topaz Jenova.

Hint: BG-57, you're somewhat on the right track, thinking about the concept of shared attributes.

Logically, it should be yellow or amber colored, since the weapons are generally named for their color that matches their namesake gemstone most closely. At least with Ruby and Emerald.

I'll go with Fat Chocobo, which makes rare appearances when the Chocobo/Mog materia is in use.
