I belive it's called "narrowing the field". We've only got an entire world to guess from. After the riddle about carpet, I'm pretty darn sure that everything is possible. We need a starting point to anchor the riddle to one thing/place/person/whatever. For example, it is neccessary to establish where the riddle is reffering to. From there, we can make more accurate guesses that fit the rest of the riddle. Unless this is accomplished, we're all just making random stabs in the dark, and this riddle will get nowhere.
What we have so far established, is that the first stanza refers to a tall building. Fine. We've excluded all monsters, enemy skills, and materia as part of the answer. That still leaves much to guess from.
Now, I don't mean to insult, and I can see where you are coming from. But the fact is many things can seemingly apply to the entire riddle and be completely wrong. Unless we narrow down the options, there's only going to be random guesses, until someone gets lucky and gets the answer. With that in mind, you are bound to get repetitive questions. Now, shall we move on? Does anyone else have a guess or idea they may want to share?
