    i wud much rather have a sword than a shiny crystal which is *apparently* materia. if i was gona get a sword from 7, i would want butterfly edge

    materia cost would be same till they figured out what it did than doubled for attacking magic

    If materia really existed i don't think everybody would be able to use it. Its like any "real" magic very very few people are able to access it so i don't think we'd have any problems with it.

    they state in the game that it isnt magic that uses materia. I think anyone could use materia they just need the proper stuff.

    Using Materia to produce fire when lost in the jungle.

    Use Materia to produce Ice for water when stuck in Sahara Desert.

    Use Materia to cast haste on yourself to win the annual school sports competitions,.(and cast slow on the others.)

    Summon something to "play" with when you are bored. If you lucky, you can hop onto its back and fly up to the sky...

    The above are some basic use of Materia....
