tifa is way better than zell but knowing zells personality hed be all"damn! i cant hit a girl!" caitsith i think would beat quina. kimahri would win because hes a big bulky beast man and reds just a dog.
i reckon sephiroth in skill(not as if this was an ATB battle.im making my choices like they were real people and things.) would be able to beat them all up but take a lot of hits in the process.

They both were trained and went thru massive adventures however Tifa tends to take things more seriously, while I wouldn't give this much precedence I don't see anything else to decide the fight.

Cait Sith vs. Quina
Rough, I liked both. Reeve however was a government man, this doesn't mean much for Cait Sith but whatever.

Kimahri worked as a guardian, Red XIII was the guardian of Cosmo Canyon before going on the adventure.

Sephiroth vs. Everyone
Silly question, Cloud's party beat Sephiroth and there not near everyone. However Sephiroth does blow up the sun... which then does 2000 to my characters.

And by battle mechanics, though this is more according to which game the character is from. We will assume all stats have been maxed.
Tifa vs. Zell
The FFVIII system allowed 4X the speed, two hits from a 255 str Zell should be the fight, and if not he gets another before they both get the 4th turn around the same time. And if he limits -600,000 (assuming the controller isn't that goods -200,000) to Tifa's health bar.

Cait Sith vs. Quina
Frog drop wins Quina the match easy, and KoTr wins it Easy for Cait Sith. Whoever's faster wins and I think the bar went up in FF7 faster.

Red XIII vs. Kimahri
A KoTr takes Kimahri and an attack takes out Red XIII, I don't know who the faster character would be. If Red gets the first turn he wins, if Kimahri does he quick hits, Red revives and battle goes until one runs out of MP, of course if Red had HP<-->MP switch this would last forever, Kimahri would run out first and it would be a toss up for the next turn. With how many tossups there would be...

FF8 characters battle sysstem has the ATB bar go up much faster than any other game, combined with hero, aura and limit breaks characters from this could easily defeat any other game.
FF7 characters have the continual revival which can only be beaten by the superior speed of FFVIII. KoTr is also enough to defeat anything.
FFX characters have crushing stats giving them 3rd place.
FF9 characters had 9999 attack for some + auto regen and auto revive.

i don't know. of the people who wield swords, my favourite is a toss up between cloud and squall. sure cloud is older but he was trained by soldier, and the first class soldiers in the game are easy to beat. on the other hand, squall was trained by Balamb garden which sepcialises in creating an elite fighting force. also, check out his fighting on the first FMV . this is why i think squall would beat cloud. but no one else would *i have to stay in the gud books *

Tifa v.s Zell Its gotta be Tifa. One, she's more experienced. Two, she'd easily keep her cool a lot more than Zell would. Three, I believe that Zell would genuinely not want to 'hit a girl'.

Caitsith v.s Quina This is a hard one, but I'd say Cait Sith. It could really go either way since it would depend what skills the other had learnt rather than brute strength. But saying Cait because (SPOILER)Reeve controls him.

RedXIII v.s Kimari RedXIII. He's got a stronger array of attacks, and his limit breaks would totally pwn Kimhari's. Also Kimhari only really has strength until he limits. Ahh I dunno... Red still.

Sephiroth v.s all at once Sephy.. because he dosen't die at all.

I believe that there are two problems with this. The first is that we never get to fight any 1st class SOLDIERS, in fact the only 1st Class SOLDIERS we ever see are Zack and Sephiroth. Plus, SOLDIERS are bathed in Mako, so I'd risk saying that a 1st class Soldier is more powerful than a top rank SeeD, who are still human no matter how good they are.

The other problem is that in the opening FMV, we see Squall get owned by Seifer. Not really a good 1st impression. Plus, if you've seen FF7 AC (or at least clips from it), Cloud really puts Squall to shame. But I'd understand if you don't include AC in your debate as it's a sequel, and we've yet to see Squall in an action film yet.

There are other factors that make me prefer Cloud over Squall, but those are generally my opinions and not cold hard facts. I personally believe that the winner of Cloud vs Squall is wether you think a normal (well hardly) sword is better than the gunblade. Still
, they are both possibly the toughest out of the main heroes anyway.

As for the other battles, this is how I see it.

Tifa vs Zell
Skillwise these two are pretty much equal, but there are other factors to consider. First of all, Tifa's more calm, while Zell is incredibly impulsive, which gives Tifa an advantage. Also, Tifa is older and more experienced, and would possibly be able to outdo Zell.

Cait Sith vs Quina
Neither of these two are favourites of mine, and I don't think I degraded myself to actually use either of them . I'll give the point to Cait Sith though, because Reeve was pretty decent.

Red XIII vs Kimahri
Kimahri's Overdrives didn't seem as good as Red's limit breaks to me, and seeing as Kimahri was weaker than the rest of the cast I pretty much refrained from using him. Red XII was pretty much a solid member of my party through the whole game.

If by 'all at once' you mean everyone, then Serphiroth is screwed seeing as he'll be up against people I don't think he could take down in a solo battle.
