If not that, it could be Valefor

    A symbol of defiance
A gift from a god- Comes from the sky
Fashioned for his own demise- Aeons have to give up their bodies.
Use it if you believe- Tidus tells Yuna to believe, and she does, like in the Bevelle wedding scene.
It looks like the ground had a sex change.

Is it Thor's Hammer, Ixion's overdrive? It's a lightning-based attack that disintegrates enemies in a swirling storm.

    Nope, but here's a hint:

    (SPOILER)
    My original purpose (Zanarkand)
    My other purpose (Spira)
What I'm used for in the game
    A pun on my name

Is it the sword Auron gives Tidus at the beginning of the game, when he says "A gift from Jecht"?

A Symbol of defiance - Tidus uses it to defy people
A Gift from a god - In some ways Jecht is a god-like figure
Fashioned for his own demise - Eventually you have to use a sword against him
Use it if you believe - Kind of self explanatory...

No, but Line 3 refers to Sin specifically.

Where's Endless when you need him, eh?

This is my final hint, that will DEFINITELY give away the answer:

(SPOILER)It's a ancient song, used by Tidus and co. to calm Sin down enough for them to approach him.

    Is it Yunalesca?

    Call to the saviour
With a distressed plea - she's the one who controls the final summoning
With hidden intentions - she has a lot of hidden intentions
And the beast beneath - when you fight her there is a large beast-like part of her beneath

I agree with OWG, since Anima also has a "beast beneath", and Seymour summons her in the first battle, which could refer to the "distressed plea".
