Is it one of those parts where you fight a series of fiends, where each fight lets you progress a bit, like when you fight a series of machina in Luca, or the Sahaguins, in same? Or...is it the Cactuar Village sidequest? You have to fight each in turn, in the Labyrinth of the desert.
