I've played it, but I've never really understood it, perhaps someone could fill me in?

I agree with this. Although I prefer FFX to FFVII

It's correct that you need to play the games some times before you understand it, but that's what's so good about it

But you can't expect that people will write the whole story for you, please be a little more specific.

Yeah the story is complex enough, you don't want someone to right the whole story (not that anyone would) because it would only confuse you and I think it is a shame when people get confused by the story because the story is what makes this a truly great FF.

I thought the general story was nothing special, but the characters are well-fleshed out and the battle system is fun. The music i svery atmospheric also.

if ur confused about something in the plot, post a question and we'll answer

i think ff7 is joint 1st with ffx (i could never choose between them ) followed by ff8 then ff9

i agree. ffx had all the makings of a fabulous game but they threw in too much corny things. the thing about ff7 is it's special without having to try so much so that even if someone does an oopsie and says something dorky or runs funny it actually adds to the charm of the whole package

Well for me it's the impact the game had on me when I finished my first play through. It kept me longing for more; I cared about the characters and the story was exciting. It's very rare for a game to have the amount of impact like this one had.

Palmer and his chubby tender meat! I can stare & drool at him for hours when playing the game.

Not to forget the BIG & LONG SWORDS of course.
