thats because they're saying it in the japanese pronunciation, which could be the 'proper' way to say it but the americans would say it tie-dus if they saw it, so would many of us british

    Isn't there a Greek/Roman named Titus? That's probably why I pronounce it Tie-dus.

It was that way in the American cartoon too. I pronounced it wrong forever, myself. The Street Fighter anime set us all straight. But that's to be expected. It was a kazillion times better than either

Has anyone put these through one of those crappy voice synthesisers that are available. I've just put Tidus in (which I pronounce Tie-dus), and it says Tie-de-us. Quite amusing I thought, I'll put the others through later...

    Ixion: icks-e-on
Catoblepas: I have always said this as cat-a-lopez, dunno why

You can find most of the pronunciations of these online, since they are names that are based off Greek and Norwegian stories, like Ixion (ik·sye'·un) who's name is based of of a guy that zues punished for attempting to sleep with Hera. His offspring with a fake hera gave berth to the Centaurs note the horse appearance of Ixion. And Valefor is a king of demons in hell, name pronounced Vah-leh-for. Catoblepas is actually based off the wildebeast, greek legend has that it breaths mist that turnes you into stone, but for the life of me I cant find any pronunciation online, but I think
    cat-a-lopez
    works best.

I also have a friend named Titus in tie, I dont know how Tidus is pronounced Tee dus in englis.
