Yes, it is a good use of reasources. Keeping drugs out of our country creates a safer place for us to live. Keeping the supply lower, at least makes the price go up and the availability go down. Less drugs - less problems.

The war on drugs isn't stupid but they way they go about fighting it is. Why does it seem like half of a school's population knows where to go buy drugs at but the police don't? It sure doesn't seem like the government knows what it is doing. Good battle but dumbass fighters.
Actually, keeping the supply low increases the potency. And not all drugs are the same. Marijuana is less harmful than alcohol, for instance. As far as crime goes, thats more due to the illegality of drugs. When was the last time beer distributors killed eachother? Oh, yeah. Prohibition.
The biggest problem with the War on Drugs is its deceptive nature: all 'drugs' (and the government decides what counts as drugs that should be illegal, specifically exempting alcohol and tobacco, probably for monetary reasons) are lumped together as 'evil', and these facts are handed out to children in schools.
Later, kids find out that they've been lied to about one drug, and so they think 'oh! Well, if this one's okay, then the others are okay, too, right?' and so they move from, say, marijuana, to meth. Which is not so benign. It's not all cases, but I've seen it more times than one.
In addition, the problems with crime, for the most part, are due to the illegality of the substances. But really, in my opinion, they need to be wasting less money on controlling what people do in private and more time in fixing the disaster that is the public school system in a large part of the country, or maybe even trying to help the poor, heck.

When alcohal was banned. Bootleg and moonshine places sprung up over night. GAng violence literally took a turn for the worse.
With drugs. You have people going to prison just simply haivng a type of drug. Heck some people get arrested for being with someone who has a drug.
If you are inte h same car as your friend who is riding with ou. You get pulled over. They check your friend and find weed on him. Your going to jail along with your friend for aobut 10 years. So get comforatable.

What? I don't know how muh pot you guys carry around but to go to jail for 10 years you need to have a LOT of pot on you. Pounds and pounds.
ANd if you're your riding in a car (not driving) and your friend has a drug on him while you're pulle dover. You don;t go to jail just your friend does.

Then all of a sudden a plice pulls you over looking at your car a store clerk saw. Anyway Your friend was caught stealing something. You had no clue about it. You goto jail anyway because you were with your friend and oyur friend is int eh same car as you and oyu both wnet into the store together.
To carry more weight to it. If your 1-25 your definately in jail because apparently you somehow knew of him stealing something or having pot on him even if you didn't have it. The justice system doesn't care. They just want you in jail. Then your life becomes prison and your use to it. You know the perks and all of that. You know every thing a lawyer who just passed the bar test knows.
Anyway once your out thats it your life is gone. Your an ex convict. You can';t vote. You can't get any formal secondary education, 98% of the job market will not hire you. All because youve been to jail.
You lose a lot of rights jsut because a friend had it without your consent.

No. I was caught witha quarter ounce and I didn't go to jail AT ALL. I was 19 at the time also so charged as an adult. YOU DON'T GO TO JAIL UNLESS YOU HAVE LOTS OF IT. like pounds.

wtf where do you get this? I WAS CONVICTED OF POSSESION OF NARCOTICS AND I NEVER STEPPED FOOT IN A JAIL. and I plead guilty theefore did not have a lawyer or go to trial.
