In this case, the fight with Zalbag, the fights with Celia and Lede, and the fights with Altima all are viable ways to learn Ultima, which one might contend is the most powerful Guts skill.
Personally, I feel that Scream is the best guts skill, and that can be learned at the start of chapter 4.

By my estimate Queklain and Velius, but my memory is a bit hazy so I could very well be wrong. As I recall the later Zodiac Braves don't really kill a whole lot of people.
