Why can't we just accept that it was originally bread, and was translated to hotdogs so that all us non-Japanese people would understand why he's craving for them so much?

Yeah, heres what happened. Zell was so desperate for a hotdog and everyone knew that he'd rush to eat anything slightly resembling one, so they set up a plate of old socks.... Then Zell starts chomping on them, and then realises they are socks... reaches for a drink... but its all gone!
They look kind of like donuts.
