    lol I never noticed that

    Vaan - "Hey, you!"
Penelo - "Yeah, you! The one reading this sig at this very moment!"
Vaan - "Interested in playing FFXII International Zodiac Job system?"
Ashe - "But you have no knowledge of the Japanese language?"
    Fran - "....We could help...."
Balthier - "That's right, Fran! Just click on Crossblades' thread on the very bottom of this signature and it will show you all license grid translations, magicks and tecks locations, and other changes that were made!"
Basch - "Don't forget though. Swap Magic is needed to play this game if you don't own a japanese PS2."
Vaan - "Also remember that if you played the original, you'll have an easier time playing the international version. We hope you enjoy the International Zodiac Job System experience. See ya then!"

Its an easter egg. They point it out on GameFAQs, I think.

    TheAbominatrix.

In any case, the dialogue is certainly new, since it can only be found on the Trespassers map; this is located in Hellfire Chasm, which was obviously not a part of the original Final Fantasy. Given the ubiquity of Homestar Runner, the addition was certainly intended as an easter egg.

they do a lot of spoofs. like when you fight necron in FF9 at the start it does that whole "hate leads to suffering" bit on starwars one and also when locke meets celes in FF6 they do exactly what luke and leia do when they meet on star wars 4(and instead of him being in a stormtrooper outfit hes in a gaurd suit.).

In the DoS remakes they had lots of funny references like that. The translation crew was certainly made up of huge geeks, it's awesome.

    You are about to be...Burnated!
    -Shwertzineger
    "Swordchucks Yo." - Fighter

"Every time I cast Hadoken it siphons a little bit of love out of the world to create a massive destructive explosions. They say the divorce rate goes up with each cast." - BM

How many swords could sword chucks chuck if sword chucks could chuck swords? Same goes with Nuns! :rolleyes2

    "I cast Ice-9!" -RM

"I can steal stuff that isn't even there" -Thief (Yet he can't steal in the game)

In FFI DoS, there are two referances to FFIX with a rehearsal for the play "I Want To Be Your Canary" in the water Shrine and a child asking for a Trance Kuja doll in Whisper Cove. FFI also has a referance to Zelda. The grave stone in in the elf village says "Here lies Link". I think another version of the game has "Here lies Chrono" from Chrono Trigger. So yeah, they added in several referances.

No, it never said Chrono. In the original Japanese versions it always said "here lies Link", but in the American NES release they changed it to "here lies Erdrick". Erdrick being the hero of Dragon Quest III and the ancestor of the hero from Dragon Quest I.

Are you sure? I've never seen it myself, but I've heard people say it's there. Have you tried the PSX version?

    The PSX version says Link.
