That was fake actually, the screenshot of "did you mean french military defeats?" that you have in mind. Go try it yourself and you get tens of thousands of webpage results. I don't see what there was to laugh at if it was real anyway.

It's called googlebombing...clever and pointless. You can get google to associate completely unrelated phrases with certain sites. Yes, someone has likely already explained this...
