Summoners? Just me?

Is it just me or is there someting cool about summoners in the games? I would prefer them above all of the others. FF7 i use summons like all the time.
FF8 i use GFs all the time.
FF9 i always use Garnet of Eiko.
FF10 I usually fight with Shiva or Anima.
I hardly ever fight with a basic party.. Am i sad or does anyone else agree?

summoners have been obvious favorites of square's for some time. rydia, while not the main character, is in your permanent party and is a summoner, in ff4. Terra of ff6 is the most likely main character and is also heavily involved with summoning.

ff7 doesn't pay much attention to summons, but in ff8 they're a rather large plot point, as in ff9 and 10 and 10-2.

So obviously, square *wants* you to think summoners are cool.
