That’s no way near as bad as some shows I’ve heard about. In the anime OVA ‘Angelic Sanctuary’, the protagonist is in love with his sister (ie his blood related sister) and from what I've heard, he actually has 'relations' with her (lol, worst pun EVER).

Ah, but angels are genetically perfect, so there's no risk of recessive mutations coming to the fore. The same reason the Greek Gods were allowed to get fruity with their siblings.
Brother and Yuna are first cousins, so... it happens sometimes, and plenty of couples exist who're first cousins. It doesn't necessarily have adverse consequences for the kids. However, the closeness of the family relationship is a moral problem for some people. Some would say they're too closely related; others might disagree.

Incest comes up a lot in Anime (mainly step brothers/sisters getting together), so that’s probably the reason why I don’t really care that much about it. However, I cringe a little when they put blood related siblings together, as you may have been able to tell from the tone of my ‘Angel Sanctuary’ post.
Anyway, I was referring to the manner in which you used the word ‘retard’ to label mentally handicapped individuals. I’m sure there are many people who could have easily taken offence to that…

Ok, I really don’t see why step brother/sister relationships are so ‘sickening’. It can’t be that emotionally healthy, but it’s not as if there is anything biologically wrong with it. Once again, it’s not as if I’m all for it or anything (I don’t really know anyone who has step brothers or sisters, let alone would ever consider f@#$ing them) but I’m not going to gouge my eyes out if I saw it on some show either.
If it’s used for comedic purposes (such as in FFX-2 or Arrested Development) and not actually acted upon, I don’t mind the whole ‘cousins’ gag either. I might be a little turned off though if they took things too far (yeah, I haven’t seen The Blue Lagoon, but I know ‘of’ it…)

Imagine a scenario where you've been in love with someone, who you first met a a total stranger, and are going to marry them, etc.
Nothing wrong with thet, huh? No sick and twisted perversions in the eyes of soceity - two strangers who met, fell in love, and so on...
What if you find out at a later date, both you and your spouse were adopted as babies... and TEH HORRORZ - you discover you were both put up for adoption BY THE SAME PARENTS.
