    I'm not going to dispute with you how and where O RLY started. So, let's continue on with the general topic of owls and O RLY. x)

    4) The owl in the O-RLY plane is the best orly picture, and it came before the crucifixion of Christ.

    If I had my way, anything such as lol jesus, o rly, pwned etc. would all be a punishable offence.

    EDIT: I also find this degrading to the wise reputation of the owl. This makes me a very, very sad chocobo. Owls are one of my favourite birds, easily, and that's largely because of the "old wise owl" reputation they had prior to this pathetic blaspheme.

    I wasn't aware of these crazy owl things until a few months ago when I started frequenting some Soul Calibur forums. For those of you you don't know, one of the main characters of Soul Calibur III has an owl head that looks vaguely similar to that O RLY? picture and, needless to say, there have been a lot of people O RLYing and YA RLYing like crazy.

    Personally I never understood quite why it was funny, at least not after the first couple of times you see that picture. I think that taking it beyond just the O RLY and YA RLY pictures is really stretching a bad joke thin.

    And now a moogle--> :mog:

    The O RLY owl was initially pretty funny when used in the appropriate situation (or possibly inappropriate situation, depending how you look at it). However, thanks to Fool's Gold adding all of the owls as smilies and the FG posters abusing them to death, I've grown to hate them.

    The clear answer is this :

    Fool's Gold ruins everything, it's like The Grinch of the internet.

    No, not really. Fool's Gold does have a lot of things that people eventually realise are not funny, but once you come down to it, they weren't funny in the first place. It just took a flood of the images before some of you realised it. All you people do is slap some internet shorthand onto a random image and suddenly it's supposed to be funny. It's not. It's really not. Random? Sure. Funny? No. It's not.

    Stop saying "you" like everyone is involved in this, I find people's reaction and annoyance at it funnier than the concept itself.

    I generally keep stuff like that for when it's appropriate, ironic, or both.

    Yes, but why use incorrect spelling? Pointless. It's like saying "Haha, you got made to look like a fool! Also, I can't spell!"
