I mean are we supposed to be like, "there was an avatar/signature there before, but now it's gone which means this person really means business and is never coming back?" I always found this pretty funny.
Maybe because they don't want people sending PMs to their account while they're gone? Not everything is about being dramatic or getting attention.

Hmm... the whole 'deleting avatars and sigs' deal...
I can understand why they'd do that. If someone leaves a forum community because of something particularly serious, they might want to distance themselves from that group. Since they can't delete their own account, erasing the info from that account could be a symbolic way of demonstrating that they don't consider themselves a part of the group anymore. Kind of like moving out of a room, and taking all your pictures off the walls. If you don't feel that you belong in a particular place, why continue to have all the adornments and trappings that suggest you consider yourself a member?

Not saying I agree with it, I just understand where they're coming from.

    You're hopeless.

Just because some leaves due to a fall out doesn't mean they despise the entire community. I'd take it as a clue to contact them through something else.

I wouldnt say it means they despise the community, rather that they're just further distancing themselves from it.

Or they just felt like leaving a note in case someone wonders where they've gone!

But really, you have no idea how many people have PM'ed me asking me to delete their account. Something like seven!

Leaving "forever" is lame, dramatic, stupid, and takes too much effort. I prefer to just not say anything and then disappear for six months.

Anyway, I don't understand why they take their avatars/sigs away. I guess to remind us that they're gone, which is kind of stupid, but whatyagonnado.
