Whenever Im asking someone if I want the I ask "do you want a coke or a sprite or something" making it clear enough Im talking about soft drinks. I called them fizzy drinks when I was younger and I recognize the word soda from tv. Pop is OBNOXIOUS.

Soda is a TV word, Pop is a British word, America doesn't deserve it, it makes the Americans go crazy.
